HELP UP RAISE OUR

GOAL OF

$21K IN 2021

Giving Tuesday
Tuesday, November 30, 2021

Giving Tuesday is NOVEMBER 30, 2021.  Thank you for your support whether it is your time or a financial gift.  Giving Tuesday is such a remarkable tradition to think outside the box and ourselves and give back.  Your donations go towards so many needs here at Pegasus. Your monetary gift goes to the amazing care of these 4 legged therapists to provide therapeutic sessions for our riders; including shelter, feeding, vet care, and the love that the staff and volunteers display to these amazing creatures.

It has come time for a few of our beloved lesson horses to retire from the program and enjoy "the easy life." While these horses are so special to us, we also want them to be comfortable and happy, and want to recognize when their bodies or their minds have simply had enough of their job as a therapy horse. With this decision, it is also vital that Pegasus Project has the funds available to purchase new horses for the program to replace our special retirees. While we do receive horses by donation on occasion, we do purchase the majority of our horses. This is where YOU come in. We need your support to make sure we can find safe, healthy, trustworthy horses to help the children and adults we work with.

Here's a little about our one-in-a-million horses that will be retiring in the near future:

Pedro - Pedro is a 23 year old paint gelding. He has been with us since 2017 and has easily become a favorite. He is so sweet and personable! He has helped many of our smaller kiddos take those big steps to ride independently! While Pedro is still happy and enjoying his job here, he has quite a bit of arthritis at this point in his life, and is moving pretty stiff. We've done what we can to keep him comfortable, but we have decided it is time for him to retire and live out his days care-free. Replacing Pedro in our herd will not be an easy task!

Margeaux - Margeaux is the "old lady" of our herd at almost 30 years old! She has been a joy to have around, and her high level of training has allowed many of our independent riders to hone their skills and progress their skills. While she is still keeping up physically (she loves having a job!!), she has started to tell us that she is getting burned out doing this kind of work. At her age, she has more than deserved a retirement. She will go home with her owner, our very own Barn Manager, to spend the rest of her days grazing in a pasture getting lots of love.

Smoke - Smoke is an 18 year old paint gelding we have owned since 2019. He has been a very solid horse in our lesson program, and has taken great care of riders of all abilities. Smoke was diagnosed with navicular disease, which is a degenerative disease of the foot, and while we are keeping him as comfortable as possible, his body is telling us that he is no longer comfortable enough to be ridden consistently in our program.

Help us raise $21k in 2021 to help replace these beloved horses in our herd.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for you support of GIVING TUESDAY!!
